He Can Not Be Thwarted

Psalm 146
"Praise the Lord.

Praise the Lord, O my soul
I will praise the Lord all my life.
I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.

Do not put your trust in princes, in mortal men, who cannot save.
When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing.

Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God, the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them- the Lord, who remains faithful forever.
He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry.
The Lords sets prisoners free, the Lords gives sight to the blind, the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down, the Lord loves the righteous.
The Lord watches over the alien and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but he frustrates the ways of the wicked.

The Lord reigns forever, your God, O Zion, for all generations.

Praise the Lord."

I love the picture of God's sovereign nature laid out here.  He was, is, and is to come and everything is in his hands.  His love for his creation is tangible.  God has a plan and it will be seen through to the end.  He hasn't lost hold of anything.  Satan roams the earth seeking ways to thwart God, but do not fear his evil plans, for God reigns supreme!

We can praise him in the midst of troubles!

Revelation 1:8  " 'I am the Alpha and the Omega.' says the Lord God, 'who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.' "

Isaiah 43:13 "Yes, and from the ancient days I am he.  No one can deliver out of my hand.  When I act, who can reverse it?"

Proverbs 19:21 "Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails."

Matthew 6:25-27  "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear.  Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?  Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow, or reap, or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.  Are you not much more valuable than they?  Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?"

Psalm 84:11  "For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless."

John 16:33  "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.  In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart!  I have overcome the world."

The world promises to be a challenging, heartbreaking, and sinful place.  There will be trials of many kinds, but as believers we have hope!  Matthew 6:34 tells us not to worry about tomorrow.  Concentrate on today for it holds enough.  When it seems too much, and fears pile on, lean on the Father - the one cares for you more than anything else - and he will give you rest.  His yoke is easy and his burden is light (Matthew 11:30).  Stay close to him.  Do not allow events of this world to strike fear in your heart.  If you are a child of God, you have a much greater peace and celebration awaiting you.  HE is bigger than all your troubles.
